A big thank you to the following  Sprague and

Lamont staff and students who go “Above and Beyond”

  • Mrs. Whipple for her part in the success of the Bi-County Music Festival at the INB Performing Arts Pavilion in Spokane on March 13. It was a great venue for our Sprague and Lamont students as well as the other Bi-County students!

  • Mrs. Reisenauer for taking on the role of driving instructor along with her role as classroom monitor for traffic safety. Her willingness to do this has allowed students to stay in class so that they don’t miss as much instruction time!

  • Mrs. Reisenauer for her efforts in making this year’s elementary Jump Rope for Heart event a success.

  • Mrs. Billigmeier, Mrs. Canaday and Mr. Miller for their willingness to shuttle students to and from down town Sprague where they were helping with the sandbag filling efforts. Also, all the Sprague High School students who volunteered to go help fill sandbags.

  • To our fellow staff for appreciation of the wonderful treats, coffee, sausage feed tickets and words of encouragement to celebrate Classified Week.

Social Studies Happenings . . . by Brent Houston

Social Studies Happenings . . .

Well, it has been a very busy second semester.  Social studies students have learned about everything from current world issues, the Dark Ages, the Renaissance, the Reformation, different geographical regions of the world, and early Pacific Northwest history.  Additionally, ancient India, Greece, and Rome were examined.  Whew!

Spring break is open us, which means we are approaching the end of another great year in Sprague-Lamont.

Board Approved Roof Project By Pat Whipple

posted Apr 11, 2017, 9:17 AM by Stefani Kanzler   [ updated Apr 11, 2017, 9:17 AM ]

The Sprague school board approved the elementary roof project for this summer.  The cost will be approximately $55,000.  As mentioned in a previous newsletter, it has been high on the priority list.  We will not have to run a special levy to generate the necessary funds.  We have been planning and budgeting for the funds.  We also plan on using some of the recently passed maintenance and operation levy money to help with the cost when collected in 2018 and 2019.

The old synthetic rubber roofing over the elementary will be removed and replaced.  Part of the cost, $8,000 is for the removal of asbestos present.  One can almost always find asbestos at any construction site.  The goal is to have completion of the project before staff and students start the new school year.
