Child Find is a program for our school that is funded by Title 1.  Its main goal is to help families determine if their children are ready for preschool or kindergarten.
Who comes to Child Find?
A parent or guardian and their child ages 3-5.  Everyone who lives in Sprague or Lamont School Districts is welcome to come, whether or not your child will attend school here.
Families living in temporary situations are encouraged to bring their children for Child Find.
A parent with a child birth to 3 who has concerns about their child’s development.
When is Child Find?
April 19, 2017.  Appointments will be available in the morning.  Please call the school to make an appointment at 257-2591.
Who will evaluate/screen my 3-5 year old?
A speech therapist will screen for language development.
An occupational therapist will evaluate your child’s coordination and motor development.
A school psychologist will screen for school readiness.
A school nurse will conduct vision and hearing checks.
How will I know how my child did during the screening?
We will send a follow up letter letting you know where your child shows strength and any skills they should work on before coming to school.
If there are major concerns we will contact you for further testing and your child may qualify for services such as Speech Therapy, Occupational Therapy or Special Education.
What if I have an infant (birth to 36 months)?
If you have concerns about your child’s development and they are younger than 3 we encourage you to make an appointment and come and visit with the Lincoln County Family Resource Coordinator.   She will go through an AGES and STAGES evaluation for your child’s development.
What if I have questions about Child Find?
Call Pam Schermerhorn, Title 1 Director, at school.  The number is 257-2591.
