In October, Kayden Mindermann and Steven Lutes from Mrs. Jacobson's 3rd/4th grade class wrote an essay on the topic "Why Are Men and Women in the Military Special". On Saturday, January 21st, these two students attended an awards assembly in Davenport held for all of the participants across the Bi-County. Approximately 150 students and their families were in attendance. Both Kayden and Steven earned the right to read their essays in front of the group. Kayden's essay focused on military members being special because of all the time they miss from their family as well as how they are mentally strong. Steven's essay talked about the many miles the military members must travel in order to perform their duties. Kayden's essay was chosen 2nd place for the 3rd, 4th, and 5th grade levels. She will move on to the Spokane area's competition. Congratulations to both students and great job to Mrs. Jacobson.
